Teaching…
…w/ Aaron Nigel Smith & One World Chorus (Broad Stage - Santa Monica, CA 2019)
Ryan has been teaching music for nearly 25 years. He distills his diverse experiences into concepts that are accessible to all ability levels. Beginning privately in Boston, NYC and L.A.; Ryan has continued to teach both privately and for multiple music schools in Lake Tahoe where he is an adjunct faculty member for Sierra Nevada University.
Ryan works w/ all types of musicians; from beginners and hobbyists to L.A. producers and singer songwriters. And from pianists and vocalists to guitarists, drummers and full ensembles. His students have even been admitted to (and graduated from) the prestigious Berklee School of Music (Boston). They range in age from 3-84 and his experience proudly includes those w/ special needs.
Along w/ Mike Adamo (named to Modern Drummer’s “top 50 drum teachers in the U.S.”) Ryan is the originator and developer of the Ensemble 360™ concept of group music education. He brings his vast experience as a professional musician to every ensemble session and lesson.
Ryan’s teaching style is informal yet effective. He prioritizes concepts over details, hearing over reading and fun/ positive experiences that engage the student w/ music that is relevant to them. Principally a Pianist, Keyboard Player and Music Director; Ryan teaches Music Fundamentals, Ear Training, Theory and Ensemble Interaction to all Instrumentalists, Vocalists, Ensembles and Producers; along w/ Songwriting, Composition Arranging and Music Production / Beat Making (specializing in Logic and Pro Tools).
